Vision
Shalom’s long-term vision is to see children, families and communities break free from the cycle of poverty and go on to lead abundant, transformed lives.
We are currently working towards our 2025 goal of partnering with 10 villages and assisting the poor in their communities, through sustainable health, education and income generation programs.
Strategies
Our strategies to help families and communities overcome poverty:
Increase awareness of the importance of education for every boy and girl.
Improve access to education especially for those children most at risk of dropping out of school.
Support disadvantaged students and address barriers that prevent children from succeeding and progressing to higher levels of study.
Improve access to affordable health care.
Improve awareness of hygiene, sanitation, disease prevention and nutrition information.
Increase opportunities for skills training and social enterprise to create better pathways to employment and income generation.
Underpinning our strategies and programs is Shalom’s principle of OneRaga – encouraging people, communities and organisations to work together to help fight poverty.
